No. Anyone can install and follow the updates. If you are a student, you can also access your classes through the app.

Why do I need to activate the notifications?
The daily study reminder, the course expiration notice, and the new class notifications arrive by notification. Without them active, you won't receive these notifications.
Can I disable the notifications later?
